OKX Event Contract — Product Update
Dear OKX Users,
To further enhance the trading experience and product capabilities of Event Contracts, OKX will roll out a series of product updates in the near term, covering new instrument launches, settlement rule optimization, and order precision improvements. The updates will apply to the Web, App, and API interfaces. Details are as follows:
I. SOL Event Contract — New Instruments
Launch time: After 16:00 (UTC+8) on May 14, 2026
The following SOL-based event contract instruments will be added to Event Contracts:
SOL Up/Down event contracts
SOL Price Above event contracts
II. 5-Minute Up/Down Event Contracts — Coming Soon
Expected launch: May 19, 2026
OKX Event Contracts will introduce a brand-new 5-Minute Up/Down event type, initially supporting BTC, ETH, and SOL. Stay tuned!
III. Settlement Rule Update
Effective time: Event contracts with a settlement timestamp after 16:00 (UTC+8) on May 14, 2026 will be settled under the new rules. Event contracts settling on or before that time will continue to follow the existing rules. Two settlement-rule changes are being made:
# | Item | Current | Updated |
1 | Settlement value | Arithmetic average of the open price of each seconds-level index candle in the window | Arithmetic average of the close price of each seconds-level index candle in the window |
2 | 15-Min Up/Down — settlement window | 60 seconds (60 data points) | 15 seconds (15 data points) |
All other settlement mechanics (index source = OKX Spot Index, outcome determination, dispute review) remain unchanged.
Example — BTC 15-Min Up/Down, settlement at 16:00:00 (UTC+8)
Settlement window: 15:59:45 – 15:59:59 (15 seconds, 15 data points)
Settlement Price = arithmetic average of the close price of the 15 seconds-level index candles
Settlement Price ≥ Strike Price → Higher wins; Settlement Price < Strike Price → Lower wins
Note that:Only the settlement price calculation is changing. Your P&L, payout amounts, and fees remain unchanged. Open positions are unaffected and can continue to be held or traded. No action is required. For details, please refer to How to Trade Event Contracts and Settlement Logic.
IV. Tick Size Enhancement
Expected effective time: After 16:00 (UTC+8) on May 19, 2026
To meet refined trading needs in extreme price ranges, we will adjust the order precision for Event Contract as follows:
Item | Current | Updated |
Orderable price range | 0.01 – 0.99 | 0.001 – 0.999 |
Minimum tick size | 1% (i.e. 0.01) across all prices | 0.1% (i.e. 0.001) when price ≤ 0.04 or ≥ 0.96; 1% (i.e. 0.01) for all other prices |
Note: The 4% and 96% thresholds are configurable system parameters. OKX reserves the right to adjust them based on market conditions
